Max Baca and Los Texmaniacs represent the past, present, and future of conjunto music. With 50 years as a professional musician, Max is a legendary bajo sexto player whose career has helped carry Texas-Mexican music to audiences around the world. Together with his nephew Josh Baca on accordion, Los Texmaniacs blend traditional conjunto with Texas rock, blues, R&B, country, and roots music, creating a sound that is both deeply rooted and unmistakably their own. Max has toured and recorded with artists including Flaco Jiménez, Los Super Seven, and the Rolling Stones, has contributed to 11 Grammy-winning projects, and led Los Texmaniacs to their own Grammy win in 2010, followed by a nomination for their 2019 Smithsonian Folkways album Borders y Bailes.

Los Texmaniacs are entering an exciting new chapter through a partnership with Worldhaus Music, working alongside legendary Texas songwriter Michael Hardie on a new body of original music. Their forthcoming album, Nuevo Crossroads, due in Spring 2027, brings together the band’s deep conjunto and Tex-Mex roots with Americana, country, blues, and rock influences. The project reflects both where Los Texmaniacs come from and where they are headed next, while honoring the musical traditions of South Texas while continuing to expand what Mexican-American roots music can sound like. The first taste of the album, their new single “Déjalo,” introduces that new direction with the band’s trademark energy, musicianship, and border-crossing spirit.
